The Poppy game board  is especially made to fit the larger mahjong tiles.  The perfect way to play solitaire mahjong when you want to sharpen your game playing skills, get in a quick game, or just relax and unwind. 

PLEASE NOTE:  Tiles are not included.  

Poppy fits tiles from Southern Sparrow, as well as other similarly sized modern mahjong tiles, including The Mahjong Line.

HOW TO PLAY

• Draw 13 tiles from the bag and arrange to your preference.  Use of a rack is optional.
  • BEGIN THE CHARLESTON.  
    DISCARD 3 tiles from your hand and place face-down on your board on the first row in spaces marked with an “R.”                                                
  • REPLENISH your hand with 3 tiles from the bag.                                                 
  • CHOOSE another 3 tiles to discard and place them on the second row of the board in the first 3 spaces marked with an “O.”                                                    
  • REPLENISH your hand with 3 tiles from the bag.                                                 
  • DRAW another 3 tiles and add them to your “rack.”   On the next round a blind pass is optional.                                                                                             
  • DECIDE how many tiles you want to discard (0-3 possible).                               
  • PLACE in spaces marked “L*.”                                                                                 
  • REPLENISH your hand with the same number of tiles you have discarded.  
  • YOU NOW HAVE 2 CHOICES-STOP OR CONTINUE THE CHARLESTON.
  • 1. IF YOU DECIDE TO STOP THE CHARLESTON, PROCEED WITH THE COURTESY PASS. CHOOSE how many tiles you want to discard (0-3) and place in the courtesy pass spaces (marked 1-3) and replenish your hand from the bag with an equal number of tiles.
  • 2. IF YOU DECIDE TO CONTINUE THE CHARLESTON.  
    CHOOSE 3 tiles to discard  and place in the spaces on the top row marked with an “L.”CONTINUE in the same manner as the first half of the Charleston with an optional blind pass  on the last round.
  • PROCEED TO THE COURTESY PASS.
    CHOOSE how many tiles you want to discard (0-3) and place in the courtesy pass spaces (marked 1-3) and replenish your hand with an equal number of tiles.
  • EMPTY THE TILES FROM THE BOARD BACK INTO THE BAG AND SHUFFLE OR SHAKE IT UP
  • TIME TO PLAY!
  • DRAW a tile from the bag and exchange or discard into spaces on the board, filling the spaces with discarded, face-up tiles.                                             
  • ATTEMPT to form a mahjong before all 24 spaces are filled. After filling all 24 spaces, it is permitted to draw 1 more tile (The Tile of Last Resort!) for a total of 25 turns.  If you form a mahjong within 25 turns, YOU WIN!
